Course title: Seminar in Language and the Law:
Revelation from Cases
This seminar explores the intersection between language and the law. It is designed to help students understand how language works in the legal field and other formal settings such as administration and business. Each case to be discussed in the seminar illustrates one or more fundamental principles in this interdisciplinary field. Theoretical and practical considerations, as well as methodological issues are discussed in the summary lectures.

Classroom attendance and participation (30%), presentations (30%) and final project/paper (40%).
NOTES: Lectures are given in English, while discussions, questions and answers can be in English, Putonghua or Cantonese.
